July 2005 Calendar of Events

Livingston Manor, NY – June 1, 2005 – The Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum announces its schedule for July 2005. Listings are as follows:

Through October 31, 2005 Museum On Daily Schedule

The Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum is on its daily schedule through October 31 st. Museum hours 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Admission is $3/adults, $1/children under 12, and free to CFFCM members. For more information, contact the museum at 845-439-4810 or email flyfish@catskill.net.

 

Through December 31, 2005 Currently on Exhibit: Flies from New Zealand

Take a look at the artistry of New Zealand fly tyers in the second in the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum’s series of international exhibits exploring the work of contemporary fly tyers. Work by 25 of the country’s best tyers, accompanied by landscape photography and selected New Zealand fishing ephemera and first editions, is on display through December 31 st. Through December 31, 2005 Currently on Exhibit:
Roland Harriman: Banker and Fly Fisherman

While his brother Averell made his mark in politics, Roland Harriman spent his life in banking. But both brothers valued nature, inspired by their father Edward who believed "leave whatever you touch better for having touched it." The Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum recently received a selection of Roland Harriman's personal fishing collection, along with materials related to the establishment of Harriman State Park in Idaho. These items will be on display through December 31st. Admission is $3/adults, $1/children under 12, and free to CFFCM members. July 2, 2005 CFFCM Guest Fly Tyer: Patrick Jordan

Patrick Jordan will demonstrate fly tying from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum. Admission is $3/adults, $1/children under 12, and free to CFFCM members. For more information, contact the museum at 845-439-4810 or email flyfish@catskill.net.

 

July 9-10, 2005 Environmental Education Program [ages 8-11]

Weekend program for children ages 8-11 where they will be introduced to environmental education and conservation, as well as learn the basics of fly fishing . Limited to 20 participants, the cost is $75/child and includes meals and overnight accommodations. For more information, contact the museum at 845-439-4810 or email flyfish@catskill.net.

 

July 9, 2005 CFFCM Guest Fly Tyer: Steve Wascher
Steve Wascher will demonstrate steelhead fly tying from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum. Admission is $3/adults, $1/children under 12, and free to CFFCM members. For more information, contact the museum at 845-439-4810 or email flyfish@catskill.net.

 

July 16-17, 2005 Environmental Education Program [ages 12-14]
Weekend program for children ages 12-14 where they will be introduced to environmental education and conservation, as well as learn the basics of fly fishing. July 23-24, 2005 Environmental Education Program [intermediate/advanced]

July 23, 2005 CFFCM Guest Fly Tyer: John Dwyer

July 29-31, 2005 Willow Creel Workshop
Three-day class where participants will create a willow creel suitable for fishing or use as a purse. Instructor is Bonnie Gale, a master willow basket maker and students need not have previous basket weaving experience. Limited to 12 students, tuition is $350/CFFCM members and $375/non-members and includes instruction, all materials and use of tools, meals and overnight accommodations. July 30, 2005 CFFCM Guest Fly Tyer: Greg Belcamino
