Schedule Announced for Opening Weekend of NYS Trout Season

Thursday, March 31st 6:00-9:00 p.m.
ANNUAL ANGLERS' REUNION DINNER: Join fellow anglers at this traditional night-before-opening-day gathering held at the Rockland House in Roscoe, New York. A cash bar begins at 6:00 p.m. and dinner is served at 7:00 p.m. tickets are $20/person. For reservations call 607-498-4240.

Friday, April 1st 7:00-9:00 a.m.
FIRST CAST AT JUNCTION POOL: Author James Prosek and chef/restaurateur Tom Colicchio will deliver first casts at Junction Pool where the Willowemoc and the Beaverkill meet in Roscoe. Area B&Bs will be serving a light breakfast to anglers out and about on this first day of New York State's trout season. OPEN HOUSE AT CATSKILL FLY FISHING CENTER & MUSEUM: After fishing for a few hours, join other anglers and friends at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum to view our newest exhibits and enjoy a cup of hot soup courtesy of the museum and local legend, Agnes Van Put. Beginning at 1:00 p.m. Floyd Franke, author of Fish On: A Guide to Playing and Landing Big Fish on a Fly [2003] and instructor at the Wulff School of Fly Fishing, will be demonstrating his techniques until 4:00 p.m. Opening Day is a traditional event of fellowship and the museum welcomes you to join us from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Saturday, April 2nd 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
A CELEBRATION OF POUL JORGENSEN'S LIFE AT CFFCM: Join the fly fishing community to celebrate and pay tribute to tribute to the ˇ°World's Greatest Fly Tyer,ˇ± Poul Jorgensen. At 11:30 a.m., CFFCM members, visitors, and guests will gather in the museum to celebrate Jorgensen's life. A multimedia presentation by award-winning videographer, Jimmy Ienner, Jr. will be previewed, followed by guest speakers. The program will culminate in a moment of silence and the casting of feathers into the wind from the museum's balcony. At 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, before CFFCM closes for the day, join the fly fishing community in a new event: the first annual Opening Day Blind Fly Tying contest featuring CFFCM members. ANNUAL TWO-HEADED TROUT DINNER: Join master of ceremonies Larry Duckwall and fellow anglers at this traditional gathering held at the Rockland House in Roscoe, New York. A cash bar begins at 6:00 p.m. and six-course dinner is served at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $38/person and include a ticket for Sunday morning's pancake breakfast sponsored by the Kiwanis Club.
