Cane
Rod Builders School 2004
Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum
PO Box 1295
Livingston Manor, NY 12758
The Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum will
be conducting it's second rod building school at our facilities
in Livingston Manor, NY commencing at 8:30 AM Monday, June 21 with
a second class scheduled for September 6th. Thanks to trustee
Dr. Stephen Cohen, who identified a need in the angling community
for a museum based school for cane rod building, our first class
last year was a rousing success. Noting the expanding interest
in fishing cane rods was growing, CFFC&M took the initiative
to build off the East Coast Cane Rod Makers Gathering held at the
Center each September. This group has revived the art of cane rod
building and CFFC&M will be the steward of this noble cause.
Come join the Museum with master rod builders Ron Barch, Art Port
, Bill Harms, and the team of Dave Van Burgel and Kathy Scott in
a life time experience. The instructors will provide all materials
and tools. The only requirement for students is to bring a Black & Decker
model 425 Workmate bench.
Tuition for the school is $1,200.00 which includes
all materials and tools, sleeping accommodations in our Education
Dormitory, breakfast and lunch, and written material on the rods
to be worked on. Students are encouraged to stay the weekend
after the class at our facilities to fish the many Catskill rivers
at our doorstep. Students will also have time to fish in the evenings
and hatches are at their peak during the class weeks.
If you are interested in the program, please
fill out the attached application and reserve your place with a
$250.00 deposit. The balance will be due on June 7, 2004 for the
early class and August 23, 2004 for the September class. If you
wish to arrive the evening before, please indicate on the reservation
form. For additional information, call CFFC&M at (845) 439-4810
or email: flyfish@catskill.net.
