Orvis special mini-salmon rod. This is a 2 pc. / 1 tip rod which measures just over 5 feet in length and reads
"Orvis Impregnated" / "Salmon" / August 3, 1966 / "George Reed" around the rod shaft above the grip. Serial number is #44209. There must have been
a craze for a while to fish really small rods for salmon, probably driven by the exploits of Lee Wulff; in the Atlantic Salmon Journal Summer 2010
there is an article about a 4'4" Hardy rod called the 'Phantom' which was used as a salmon rod. This rod remains essentially straight and in excellent
used condition. It come in what appears to be the original bag and black aluminum tube. $450 |
